How do I measure my windows?

For instructions on how to measure your windows, please refer to the How To Measure page.

What is the difference between inside and outside mount?

The difference between inside and outside mount is the way in which the blind or shade is installed. With an inside mount, the blind or shade is installed within the window sill so that it is flush with the window frame.  With an outside mount, the blind or shade is installed outside the window sill and generally extends beyond the window frame or door opening.

I have a condominium with large windows, what products do you suggest?

Many condiminiums have a policy that, from the outside of the building, all window coverings need be either white or ivory in color.  With this in mind, there are still a lot of products that can be used.  A common solution for condo-size windows are PVC verticals or Thermal Fabric Verticals.  Vertical blinds enable you to choose any color for the interior while maintaining a neutral color to the exterior.  Another option would be to use Panel Track Blinds or Cellular Shades.

My child has allergies to mold and dust.  I need to get something that is room darkening, easy to wipe off, and insulates really well.  What products do you suggest?

Room darkening vinyl roller blinds or vinyl shutters would be an appropriate solution.  Both options are easy to clean, though the roller will do a better job at completely blocking out the light.

Alternatively, the opaque honeycomb/cellular shades are the best at insulating and keeping out the light, however, they are primarily made of fabric which may not be suitable in your case.
